I have not been able to get the upgrader (using either the single executable file or the path with its files) to run in a mode that is not user-interactive. I have looked at the following article (and others, but this seemed most relevant): Running this will start the upgrade, but once again, it is interactive.

Problem is, the shortcut has switches in it, but not for running in quiet, unattended mode (preferably with no reboot, but if necessary I can just have a client leave the systems on overnight).ī) Going to the Microsoft Upgrade site yields the download of a "Windows10Upgrade9252.exe" file. It will create a C:\Windows10Upgrade folder with a Windows10UpgraderApp.exe, and a shortcut on the desktop. Is there a way to script the Windows 10 Upgrader App, or the Upgrade Assistant? I find the following two scenarios:Ī) A fresh Windinstall will actually search for the upgrade and want you to do it. So the ISO option isn't feasible for all of them, leading to my question. I'd like to do a scripted feature upgrade with an ISO for clients who have a NAS or a server, but there's one or two that have cloud-based storage and nothing local. And it appears not all of our clients are getting automatic upgrades at least one client has largely remained on Build 1511 of Windows 10. Unfortunately, the patching software doesn't handle Windows 10 Feature upgrades. No WSUS (we do patching with third-party software to manage them all).

I know this is a bit esoteric, but let me explain my why (knowing I'll get asked this) before the what.
